Amber is a popular gemstone and varies in colour from pale yellows and browns to deeper reddish brown. Green and almost white amber is also found.

Amber is fossilised tree resin that is millions of years old. Famously, amber can contain some fascinating inclusions in the form of plant debris, insects, spiders, minerals, gases and liquids. Some amber has been found with larger inclusions such as scorpions or other small animals.

As amber is such a soft gemstone it's better suited to pendants and earrings, where it is less likely to face abrasion. We would recommend wearing it with care and avoiding alcohols, perfumes, detergents or solvents (for example, nail polish remover). To clean amber we recommend using lukewarm plain water (no soap) and drying with a soft cloth.
